With multiple award nominations and numerous national TV appearances to its credit, the country music trio Runaway June will bring its music to Southeast New Mexico as the headliner performer during Roswell’s 2023 UFO Festival.
Proclaimed by Billboard as the “next hot trend in country music,” Runaway June has earned an ever-increasing amount of recognition as it has opened for country music stars such as Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson and Carrie Underwood. Runaway June’s 2018 single “Buy My Own Drinks” climbed into the top five on the Mediabase Country Music chart, marking the first time since 2003 that a female country group had risen that high with a single.
The concert will take place Saturday night, July 1, at DeBremond Field, located on the south side of West 11th Street between North Richardson and North Pennsylvania avenues. Gates open at 4 p.m. for VIP entrance and 5 p.m. for general admission. The opening acts will begin at 6 p.m. and Runaway June will take the stage at 9 p.m.
The talented musicians of Runaway June are Stevie Woodward (lead vocals/guitar/harmonica/piano), Natalie Stovall (vocals/fiddle/guitar) and Jennifer Wayne (vocals/guitar). The group recently signed a record deal with Quartz Hill Records and has a new single called “Make Me Wanna Smoke.” More information about the group and its music can be found here.
Also performing at the UFO Festival’s Saturday concert will be New Mexico-based country music artist Austin Van, who last October won Single of the Year (“Driving Me Out of Your Mind”) at the Nashville, Tenn., Josie Music Awards for independent artists. Leading off the Saturday music will be the winner of the annual Battle of the Bands competition that will be hosted by Roswell Community Little Theatre.
A Friday, June 30, concert is also planned at DeBremond Field, headlined by Siggno, an American Tejano band. Two other bands will open the Friday concert, The Roulettes and I-10. Gates open at 4 p.m. for VIP entrance and 5 p.m. for general admission. The opening acts will begin at 6 p.m. and Siggno will take the stage at 9 p.m.
Tickets for each concert night are $20 general admission or $75 VIP and are scheduled to go on sale Friday, May 26, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased here.
