The City of Roswell’s application for a Cooperative Marketing Grant from the New Mexico Tourism Department has resulted in an award of $48,818 that is being used to market Roswell to potential visitors, including targeting travelers at Phoenix and Dallas airports that have direct flights to and from Roswell.
The grant funding, along with the city’s “match” amount of $42,450 from its Lodgers’ Tax Fund, will finance efforts that include digital display advertising at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, Dallas Love Field Airport and El Paso (Texas) Airport. Additionally, Roswell will be promoted in ads that appear as travelers connect their phones and other devices to wi-fi at Phoenix Sky Harbor and Dallas-Forth Worth Airport, the two airports that have daily flights to and from the Roswell International Air Center.
The grant money also enables the city to have ads on the popular music website and app Pandora. Finally, Roswell will be featured in a full-page ad in the New Mexico True Adventure Guide in January.
The multi-faceted tourism campaign is scheduled to run from Aug. 9, 2018, and continue into the summer of 2019.
Roswell was awarded the full amount of its application request and earned the second highest award amount among the 37 municipalities, counties and other entities that received Cooperative Marketing Grant funding for this fiscal year.
