Miniature Ponies

Our Residents 

There are five ponies at Spring River Zoo. Their names are Nevada (age 17), Snowflake (age 20), Malibu (age 25), Flicka (age seven) and Katie Lee (age six). 

Creature Features 

Description                                                                                                                                                                                              They are under 14 hands one hand is 4 inches and 2 inches tall, with longer, thinner legs. They have wide, strong bodies. Their necks are usually muscular. Miniature horses come in every possible horse color.

Diet                                                                                                                                                                                                         Their diet consists primarily of grass, hay and grain.

Did You Know?

Mini horses can be trained as service animals. In terms of pulling capacity versus sizes, miniature horses are stronger than draft horses. They can pull up to 3 to 4 times their weight.
