Zoo Camp

Kindergarten Camp

Starting the second week of June the zoo is offering an one-day camp that is geared for kids four to five years old. Parents can sign their kids up for one of two camps that week. All camps will cover the same topics. Kids will learn about the zoo and the animals that call it home. We will have animal encounters, animal crafts and story time. We will also take time each day to have some fun on the playground and be the best animals around.

1st and 2nd Grade Camp

Kids ages six and seven can have some fun learning about the animals at the zoo up close. Parents can sign their kids up for one of two camps during the second week of June. Each camp lasts one day and all camps cover the same topics. With lots of hands on activities, kids will learn about the animals at the zoo and how a zoo works. We will determine which animals will receive medals in the Olympics and who is the best animal athlete overall.

3rd and 4th Grade Camps

This two-day camp is designed for kids eight and nine years old. These camps will be taking place the third week of June. Parents can sign their kids up for the Monday-Tuesday camp or the Thursday-Friday camp. Kids will get to help keepers care for the animals by making and distributing fun enrichment for the animals at the zoo. We will also dive deeper into what makes animals the best at what they do. We will play lots of games and spend some time being animals ourselves.

5th and 6th Grade Camp

The final week of June is a week long camp for kids ten to eleven years old. Each day we will cover a different biome on the planet. We will learn what animals live there and how they are able to survive. We will also have opportunities to meet some animals that would live in those habitats with animals at the zoo. We will learn how to care for animals at the zoo and help the keepers with some of their duties. What fun is all work and no play? Of course there will be lots of games and plenty of time to run around and have some fun too.

All camps begin at 8 a.m. and end promptly at noon each day. For camps that occur on Tuesdays, we will open the gate to the parking lot during drop off and pick up times only, as the zoo is closed on those days. Camp spots will be given on a first come, first served basis. All applications are due by June 5, 2020.

Registration for all camps can be done in person at the Spring River Zoo main office. You can pick up the application at the office or download it ahead of time. Dates and prices are as follows. In order to reserve your child's spot in camp, payment must be in full at time of application. Payment can be made with cash, check or card.

If you have any questions please contact Caitlyn Lenz at the zoo at 575-624-6941.
