Zoo Camp

Kindergarten Camp

During the first week of June the zoo is offering an one-day camp that is geared for kids four to five years old. Parents can sign their kids up for one of five camps that week. All camps will cover the same topics. This camp will include animal encounters, story time and animal related arts and crafts.

1st and 2nd Grade Camp

Kids ages six and seven can have some fun learning about the animals at the zoo up close. Parents can sign their kids up for one of five camps during the second week of June. Each camp lasts one day and all camps cover the same topics. During this camp, kids will learn about the amazing adaptations and abilities of animals via zoo residents. There will be games, animal encounters and crafts for the kids to take home.

3rd and 4th Grade Camps

This two-day camp is designed for kids eight and nine years old. These camps will be taking place the third week of June. Parents can sign their kids up for the Monday-Tuesday camp or the Thursday-Friday camp. In this camp we will learn about animal athletes, enrichment and how to safely track animals in the wild. Kids will get to make and distribute enrichment to various animals at the zoo and determine which animal will win gold this summer in our animal Olympics.

5th and 6th Grade Camp

The final week of June is a week long camp for kids ten to eleven years old. Kids will learn more in depth about the animals at the zoo by animal encounters and helping zoo staff care some of the animals each day. They will also learn about different environments that animals can be found and how zoos try to include characteristics of native habitats into exhibit designs. We will play games, create our own animals and exhibits for a zoo and create enrichment for the animals.

All camps begin at 8 a.m. and end promptly at noon each day. For camps that occur on Tuesdays, we will open the gate to the parking lot during drop off and pick up times only, as the zoo is closed on those days. Camp spots will be given on a first come, first served basis. All applications are due by May 29, 2020.

Registration for all camps can be done in person at the Spring River Zoo main office. You can pick up the application at the office or download it ahead of time here. Dates and prices are as follows. In order to reserve your child's spot in camp, payment must be in full at time of application. Payment can be made with cash, check or card.

If you have any questions please contact Caitlyn Lenz at the zoo at 575-624-6941.
