Remembering
Bruce Lowney
January 18 - March 15, 2020
Spring River Gallery
Former Roswell Artist-inResidence, Bruce Lowney (1970-71, 1974-75) passed away on October 5, 2019. In remembrance, the Roswell Museum will be showcasing fourteen of his lithographs and paintings from our collection.
Lowney is known primarily for his printmaking, starting his career by working for Garo Antreasian and then went on to the famed Tamarind Institute in the 1960s. His work is beautifully colored, often balanced, symmetrical, and harmonious, but beneath the surface is a dark humor. Surreal and metaphorical, Lowney is both subtle and obvious with his messages about the collective unconscious, the sublime infinite, and the human condition.
