A major project to reconstruct and improve the traffic signals at the intersection of North Main Street and Country Club Road began Aug. 3 and is expected to be completed by the end of September or before. The work impacts traffic flow at that intersection.
Country Club Road will be closed at the intersection on both sides of North Main Street throughout the project. North Main Street at times may be limited to one traffic lane open in each direction (north and south) at the intersection. Detour signs and message boards will be in place.
The project will remove the existing traffic-signal structures, which were installed in 1985, and construct new ones that meet current construction standards, including pedestrian-crossing signals, new underground wiring and lighted street signs. The extensiveness of the project requires the significant closures to traffic in order to allow the project to be completed within two months.
