There will be police cars and other emergency vehicles set up from which to hand out candy and other treats for children. The Roswell Fire Department, Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, and possibly other agencies, will also be participating. Those attending the event can dress up in their costumes if they like. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with law enforcement officers and firefighters, as well as get an up-close look at police and fire vehicles and equipment.

Bravo / Grande

Bravo/Grande is an interdisciplinary project that examines the relationship between regional communities and the river with creative practice and site-responsive art projects. Through community engagement and collaboration the project studies generational and binational trends in access, use and perception by documenting oral and written stories from the community.
Roswell Museum and Art Center is excited to present Bravo/Grande. Through this series of paintings and mixed media collage, and projected oral histories Zeke Peña explores complex personal narratives with the river and the border it creates.

While the Institute has a long history of engaging the Roswell Museum and its holdings, NMMI also has its own significant collection of art and historical objects, including paintings, prints, and sculpture. Encompassing works created by both faculty and alumni, as well as prominent southwestern artists such as Laura Gilpin and Kenneth Miller Adams, this collection is an important facet of Roswell’s vast cultural heritage, and emphasizes the Institute’s ongoing interest and commitment to art as well as education. In recognition of NMMI’s 125th anniversary, this exhibit will showcase the school’s art collection, and highlight the Institute’s interaction with the Roswell Museum.

The kickoff will be held at 11 a.m. on October 15, with the Chamber of Commerce Redcoats, a ribbon cutting, a presentation by the mayor and a blessing of the pumkins. Halloween fun will begin a few days early when the Roswell Police Department hosts its second annual “Trunk-or-Treat” event Thursday, Oct. 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s event will be held at the new city parking lot in the 900 block of North Richardson Avenue (across from the Convention and Civic Center).
There will be police cars and other emergency vehicles set up from which to hand out candy and other treats for children. Hot dogs and drinks will be served. The Roswell Fire Department, Chaves County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police will also be participating.
Those attending the event can dress up in their costumes if they like. Kids will not only be able to collect some Halloween treats a few days early, but will also have the opportunity to visit with law enforcement officers and firefighters, as well as get an up-close look at police and fire vehicles and equipment.

With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.
